Diligentia et Sapientia-- Movie and Literature
On Oct. 23rd, 2017, world-renowned scholar in modern and contemporary Chinese culture and literature, Professor Oufan Lee delivered a themed-speech on Movie and Literature at Diligentia et Sapientia.
Professor Oufan Lee sees movies adapted from books are the fruits of the combinition of writing culture and visual culture. He believes being able to tell a good story does not make a novel or movie good, “ being able to display artisitc expression and creativity while telling the story marks a good movie, ” Professor Oufan Lee said.

By showing movie clips and text of Lust, Caution, Golden Ages, Jane Eyre, Anna Karenina, Professor Oufan Lee elaborated on the difference between literary narration of novels and technique of moives, differences between two moives which are adapted from the same novel. Audience left Diligentia et Sapientia with deeper understanding of movie and Literature after hearing his riveting speech.
